At first look this seems a great keyboard. It is solidly built. The keys are excellently backlit and the keypresses feel great. After I had this keyboard for a couple weeks it began disconnecting from mu computer every few days. this may seem very occasional but when you spend $200 on a keyboard you expect it to work all the time. unfortunately I did not meet Amazons return policy by about a week so am stuck with it.

The Logitech G19, a gamer's keyboard or just a tech's toy? Both maybe? I have owned this keyboard for over a year, and so far its stood up to the test of time. No noisy squeaks or finicky stuck keys. The main selling point of the keyboard is the back-lit keys and their ability to be any color (almost). If you check review the lights can never truly go pure white and so the color spectrum is slightly off, but just about any color you can still obtain. The keys are easy to press and simple enough design to type on for basic usage. However if you are looking to do mostly typing and not use macro keys/LCD screen, look else where.
The keyboard is mostly sturdy with the exception of the removable wrist support, there doesn't seem much to hold it on so if you are moving the whole keyboard, it could be easily broken if bumped against something solid with a bit of force. Only held on by little plastic pieces. The software is ok, nothing too ground breaking, you can set up macros, change color of keys, programs to run on the LCD. However a few minor small additions would have been nice. Such as the ability to turn of the LCD screen but not the back-lit keys, or to have the color sweep and change.
The LCD screen is more of a gimmick then something usable. Only a handful of games/programs support it fully which they are nice to have, but when compared to an almost $200 price tag, it leaves me wondering where the money went. Having been out a year, I would have thought much more apps would have been made to support the color screen of the G19 but there have only been a few. When it does come down to it, the only great thing is the ability to change the colors of the keys.
As for the two usb ports in the keyboard, they work great for small things, such as controllers, flash drives, cell phone, etc. However I have had trouble with external hard drives on them. One drive I have keeps disconnecting and reconnecting when plugged into either port on the keyboard, but when plugged right into the PC, it works fine. I would only use the USB ports for something basic.
A $200 is a bit steep for a keyboard, the price does need to drop, say down to $120 which is way more reasonable. While this is a great product, the price tag is too high for what you get. I would try to find a deal or go for something more basic if you are in the market for a gaming keyboard.

I have been using the G15 for some time, and know the issues with that one. Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (Black)
This is an improvement over that one. I am a gamer and use quite a few macros, and play many games.
The keyboard is improved and is more responsive. The color lcd screen is a big improvement, especially for games that utilize it so you have one more gadget to help you with your game stats of your character.
This has a smaller footprint.
one drawback is the power connector. I use a massive case, Thermaltake sword MThermaltake SwordM All Aluminum Extrusion Case with Water Cooling System - Black
So a usb extension or USB hub is a requirement for me or anyone with a massive case. I play games on a 55in LED so sitting on the couch w a stand or on my lap is the normal situation. Just something to think of if you are in that situation. I mean who doesnt want to play games on a 55in LED? Probably someone who will shell out 180$ on a keyboard.
as Kevin Butler said at E3, "if you live in a one room apartment and play games on a 55in TV, then you are a gamer."
PlayStation 3 250 GB
setup is a snap, help is good on this unit. Easy to configure. Just get it, you know you want it.
and if you dont have it yet, subscribe Maximum PC (1-year)
It has everything you need and want in a keyboard.
One might consider...Microsoft SideWinder X6 Keyboard
I am very pleased with the modification of this keyboard.

I've owned this for almost 3 months, My other back lit keyboard died almost 6 months ago and I work on my computer in low light conditions all the time, I do alot of work with web pages and office style programs and I love the feel of the buttons I also like the programable keys for shortcuts to other programs like the calculator, I also play WOW online and this thing is perfect for quick play and throwing spells and such. So over all I like the keyboard, I did have one glitch a few days ago where the keyboard wouldn't let me type my password in WOW but all I did was restart the computer and it worked fine (I hadn't turned it off in a few weeks till then so not sure if that had anything to do with it or it was a WOW thing).
