 "A bit disappointing" 2010-09-23
By Theseus (Arkansas)
I purchased this keyboard specifically for use with my iPad. At the time I bought it, it was only one of a handful of Bluetooth keyboards designed to be portable/foldable. The best compliment I can give it is that it's adequate, but it certainly is not great and is not worth the price.

First, the plusses:

- Full sized keys with number pad

- Built-in volume control buttons, including mute

- Easy to pair via Bluetooth

- A true "Mac" keyboard with command button and option button

- Uses 2 AAA batteries for power, which means you don't have to worry about charging it when it gets low.

- Typing experience is comparable to most laptop keyboards. Comfortable but won't win any awards.

- Seems to have good range.

Now, the negatives:

- Unnecessarily large. Includes not only a full number pad, arrow keys, page up/down, etc. It also has an extended area on the left of the keyboard that seems to be just wasted space. They could have reduced the device width by about 40-50% had they removed these two features alone. They probably should offer a model with number pad and another without. As it is, when folded in half, it's still as long as my iPad is tall as well as being more than half as wide and a good bit thicker. Eliminates a lot of the portability.

- Can only pair with one device at a time. Not a big deal for me, but might be for some people.

- Flimsy construction. You really feel like you have to be gentle with this, even more so than with the iPad.

- Latching mechanism is unreliable. Often pops open on its own for no real reason except that the hooks that lock the latch are poorly designed

- Power button is poorly placed. When folded in half, the power button sticks out like a sore thumb. I find it turning itself on all the time, forcing me to hunt through my bag and turn it off when I'm using the iPad without the keyboard but needing to tap in a quick email address or something. Given the relatively good range this has, that could mean the keyboard is clear across the room or in another room. You'd think that they'd design the power button to be protected/covered by the design to avoid accidental activation. Nope.

- No way to lock the keyboard open. This is designed to be used on a flat surface, like a desk. It won't work if you're typing with it on your lap as it will immediately collapse at the hinge as you're trying to type. If you put it so that the hinge is supported, suddenly the keyboard becomes a see-saw, and you still can't type.

- Strange tendency to unpredictably add extra characters to your typing, forcing you to correct yourself constantly. You may press a single "a" and, instead, get "aaa" or, sometimes, "aoa" instead. Where the extra letters come from, especially when they are not anywhere near the intended key (such as the "o" in the above example, is a mystery. In typing this review, I've had this sort of thing happen about 5 times.

These problems would be forgivable in a product that cost perhaps $30, but in something this expensive, it really forces you to look elsewhere. Unfortunately, there are few options out there at this time. The only one worth considering is buying Apple's own wireless keyboard, as it is actually smaller than this device, though has no protective case/cover to help you prevent damage.

I've seen news reports about Bluetooth keyboards coming soon that are smaller and more portable than this model and will cost less. I've even seen a report of an iPad case that has a built-in keyboard. These sound like better options than this unit. If you need something now, and you don't already have a spare Apple wireless keyboard lying around, then this might be worth consideration. I could easily see writing long-form papers with this keyboard if necessary. Better solutions are on the way, though, and if you can wait, I'd suggest looking at those alternatives.

"Flimsy hard to use pairing button - Good once paired" 2010-08-02
By A. Alvarez (Denver)
I wanted to use this keyboard with more than one device, pairing as needed. The first inconvenience is the pairing button is one of those that you need to use a pen or toothpick to press, or paper clip. Those kind of buttons are not meant to use routinely and are very inconvenient, especially since the power button is positioned so you do not accidentally push it so why not make the pairing button easier to use while not being in the way?

I was able to pair this back and forth about 10 times, and now the pairing button doesn't do anything no matter how long I push it in or what I use. I can push harder with a pin or try different pokers but that would only break it more. Luckily the pairing button broke with the keyboard paired with my computer I actually wanted to use it with. Another issue is the folding keyboard doesn't seem to be stay flat if in your lap because it folds, but that could be my fault not knowing how to lock it but didn't see how to make it lock in the open position.

All that said it works great once paired and if you have a flat surface to use it on.

"Decent Bluetooth Keyboard but Pricey" 2009-12-28
By R. J. Weber (Blacklick, OH)
I purchased this keyboard to use with a certain fruit inspired smart phone, and I have found that this is a nifty keyboard. The folding does make it more portable than its non-folding competition. Additionally, the full-size character buttons make typing very easy, and the keys are responsive.

Also, setup is a breeze: no special drivers needed (assuming your bluetooth adapter is setup correctly), and pairing is idiot proof.

I only have three gripes: the keyboard uses two AAA alkalines. I'd much rather a device like this use a Li-ion battery, and for the price, the omission is inexcusable.

Also, the folding action is a bit touchy. I'd almost say it's cheap. It's not a huge problem, but if you're not careful, I can see how it would be easy to break the plastic spine that holds the two ends of the keyboard together. Again, the price of the device makes this issue inexcusable

Finally, the clips that hold the two halves the keyboard together when it's closed might as well not be there. If you jostle the keyboard even a little bit while it's folded, the clips un-clip. Should I bother adding that this device is too expensive for the manufacturer to have let this slide?

In conclusion, I would say that the keyboard is definitely a very functional and useful keyboard. However, for some of the construction flaws related to the folding gimmick, this device is definitely overpriced.

The keyboard works as described. Obviously some customers can't understand that "Folding Keyboard for MAC" means a Macintosh. For those who "NEED A WINDOW VISTA compatible" just buy one. And don't "loose your patience" unless it's too tight.

 "Love it!" 2009-09-27
By SpazRMe (Chicago)
I have a mac and this folding keyboard is a perfect travel accessory. It's lightweight and works just like a regular keyboard. I don't have issues with the bluetooth. The only downside is I left it on once and it burned up the batteries. If you turn if off when not in use they last quite a long time. I can't imagine not having one. I would recommend it for the Mac, I can't speak for the pc.

"not compatible with Inspiron 9300" 2010-07-13
By Some Generic User
While it may look like the correct keyboard, and the description claims it's the correct keyboard. It is not, in fact, compatible with the Dell Inspiron 9300. This keyboard just has a ribbon cable, and doesn't have the correct connector at the end.

On the up side, at least the company did promptly send out an RMA so I could return it.

"Easily, the Best keyboard for the price!" 2010-07-16
By Bbone
Purchased for maybe $25 with shipping. Was one of the only 'media' keyboards I could find with a wheel for volume, although it's not like the old logitech keyboard i had with a programmable mouse type wheel. Shortcuts are arranged in a perfect layout. Multi-function 'F' Keys are easily toggled. Weight, look, feel.. awesome!

 "62 Weeks and a Spill Later...Still Working" 2010-06-06
By A. Kwan (Chicago, IL)
It's been 62 weeks and a day since I ordered this keyboard. Since then I have somehow miraculously avoided spilling anything on the keyboard (usually have a cup of water nearby). Well, at least until tonight.

I had my usual glass of water sitting in front me just behind the wristrest area of the keyboard. There was maybe 6 ounces of water in the cup at time and I reached over to turn off the speaker on my desk. I knocked over the cup of water and spill most of it (maybe 2/3 - 5/6 of it onto the keyboard. I immediately tipped the keyboard over and started wiping at keyboard with tissue on hand.

I wiped off the desk and dried up the keyboard as best as I could. With the keyboard still upside down, I tilted it at an angle and let all the water drip out. I wiped it off after it stopped dripping. I then took a can of compressed air and blew air into the spaces between the keys.

After all that, keyboard seems to be just fine. I went tested every key and combinations and everything still works. Seems the "spill resistant" design seems to work as advertised. Last keyboard I spilled some water on (generic with spill resistant design), it died on the spot. This one survived a pretty big spill in my opinion. Won't even

Other than that, it's a great keyboard. Not as silent as my last keyboard, the MS Comfort Curve 2000. Sounds more like light hollow taps when I type. I bought it since my MS keyboard's keys were mostly faded after 1.5 years of use. Not one key has started to fade on this keyboard so far. It has the usual function keys that I wanted: volume radial/key, a mute button, calculator quick key, and simplified Dvorak layout ("regular" Enter key, not the big reverse "L" shaped one).

"Cheap, rugged and made to last." 2009-12-01
By Deimos (Alberta)
This is truly another innovative product from logitech. I bought one of these for work to make my typing easier while in my office and at home. The access keyboard also comes with awesome software which gives you so many great features like on screen caps notice, great volume control, excellent responcive quick launch buttons for useful things like calculator, email etc. For the low price this is truly a top notch keyboard for home or work use for mac or PC. Note using this great keyboard on mac required no software installation. but on PC you need to install the logitech software to get the same functionality. Very happy.

 "Its fine." 2010-09-12
By Barbara Cantrell (Baltimore)
I read some reviews for this keyboard before I ordered it. Some people noted that the tapered shape of the keys is uncomfortable. I have no problem with the keys. The only issue I do have is that the enter/return key is shaped differently than a standard keyboard, so that takes a little bit of getting used to. Otherwise it works just fine.

"Why pay more for a keyboard?" 2010-06-12
By Anonymous (New York)
Works great , I've had logitech, microsoft, acer, and now an Inland keyboard

A child broke off the space bar on my last keyboard so I bought this for $5 at MicroCenter.

The other reviewer who said you have to push the spacebar dead center to make it work is completely wrong. It had 3 plunger points , the same as almost any other keyboard.

You can pay $15 for logitech or $20 for a microsoft brand, but why???? This one works exactly the same for a fraction of the price.

"Spend a few extra dollars" 2010-02-18
By A. J. Tilley (philadelphia, pa)
I got one of these at MicroCenter, but it's practically unusable for me. If you DELIBERATELY press each key, one at a time and check the screen to ensure each letter appeared, then yes - it works.

My biggest problem with this keyboard is the spacebar - it only has one sensor/plunger - so you have to hit the center of it for it to work. Hitting to the left or to the right results in no space.

I highly recommend spending the few extra dollars to get a Logitech or Microsoft keyboard, for example. If you buy cheap, you buy twice. If anyone wants this one, it will be outside my place in a trashcan next Monday evening.

"Cheap keyboard that works OK" 2009-08-22
By Jason P. Gold (Long Beach, CA)
It is a little hard to say much about a keyboard. This one is very cheap. I bought one at MicroCenter for $5. You would think the parts cost more than that. If made in the US, instead of China, it would cost more to put the 16 screws in it. Heck, the screws would probably cost that much!

A 22 month old toddler pulled the keys off of my lenovo laptop and I needed a keyboard so I could work on it. I don't have the $200 to send the Laptop back to Lenovo at the moment. And, I didn't want to carry around a heavy, expensive keyboard. I tried one of the foldable, indestructable keyboard which cost about $13, but I couldn't type on it very well because the keys have no support. So, I have been using this very inexpensive device for a couple of weeks. It works well enough, the keys, are a bit stiff, but I have no trouble typing at 70 words per minute. We have a couple of cheap Dell desktops at work with a very thin, light keyboards. This has a similar feel.

This is my second one of these keyboards. The last one got stepped on by a 17 year old and cracked. So, I turned it over and unscrewed the bottom cover to see what was inside. Answer -- not much! It contains a two plastic sheets with wiring etched on it. The keys are supported by little round plastic plunger type things, which look almost like small plastic bottle caps. When I bought the newest keyboard, one of the plastic plunber caps was installed upside down, so I had to open up the keyboard and turn the cap it right-side up. So much for quality control!

You get what you pay for. But, I wouldn't want to drag around an expensive device which could get broken. This one meets my needs.

 "Durable, lasting Stickers" 2010-01-07
By Ameruni (North Carolina, USA)
I bought these stickers a few months ago when I began a Modern Hebrew Seminar at my school. The yellow tint is perfect for black keys, and the clear of the sticker is hardly visible and not recognizable at all when typing. The only problem I had was there were no instructions for the placement of the stickers, but when I started typing in Hebrew mode on my computer, I realized that the stickers are lined up on the page in the position of the keys, so it was pretty simple to place them. It was also easy to remove a sticker if I placed it incorrectly and reposition it without any fraying effect on it now. These stickers have been useful to increasing my Hebrew literacy and speed.
