"Love this mouse, don't know what complaints are for" 2010-08-06

I'm partial to this mouse over the new magic mouse for a few reasons. The trackball, for me, has been nothing but smooth, ease of use from the first day. I love being able to customize it and the side buttons for quick desktop/expose view, etc. (You cannot do this with the new magic mouse, but instead have to use hot corners or a shortcut key on the keyboard. I like to have this in the mouse as I'm navigating the screen.)

Even though I wish this mouse had some of the aluminum of the new magic mouse, to make it seem more sleek and matching the aluminum on the macs, I still find it easier to use. It's lighter to move around, fits my hand better, the clicking isn't as loud as the new magic mouse, and the USB connection is more responsive than the bluetooth wireless apple mice.

I'd choose this mouse over the magic mouse, UNTIL, that is, I get the new magic trackpad!

"It could've been the best mouse ever" 2010-07-23
By R. Jett (Washington, D.C.)
The mouse is great. Compared to other mice I have tried the Apple mouse is well sized for my hand. After two years of use I have only one complaint and that is the scroll ball. After a couple months of being new it definitely begin to get degrade. I followed Apple's cleaning suggestion (turning the mouse upside down and rolling the ball vigorously on a smooth surface) and that seemed to make it better for a little while. After about a year and 10 months it completely stopped scrolling down. I did more research and found that there is no easy way to open this mouse. You have to actually break the bottom ring off from the main body where it was glued on at the factory. This mouse was never designed to be serviced by a user, or anyone for that matter. Apple wants you to chuck it and buy a new mouse. That's the bad part about this mouse. That's the part that makes me despise Apple and never want to buy another one of their products. Anyways, if you do end up with this mouse and it breaks, you can find guides to fix it online, but it won't be easy because it wasn't designed to be repaired. It can be done though.

"How did they manage to make such a bad mouse" 2010-07-07
By R. L. Fornoff (Peoria, IL)
I cannot tell you how happy I was at replacing this tank of a mouse. After giving the beast a good 6 month trial, when it came packaged with my Mac, the constant cleaning of that little track ball of a scroll wheel, and the vice grip needed to push the side buttons, and the constant miss-right clicking of items that I meant to just left click on; I am over joyed that I finally got fed up enough with purchasing canned air every week to invest half the cost of this thing in to a 12 dollar refurbished logitech lx7 wireless mouse.

I honestly didn't know how hard I was working at working on my computer. The difference is like night and day. The difference could be compared to driving your car versus pushing your car. I'm actually going to save the 14" corded oddity though, to hang as an ornament on my Christmas tree, as one of the worst designs to come out of a company that wasn't going in to bankruptcy, in a long time. I honestly think that the mice with the ball underneath are about equal in frustration generation as this model.

"Last of the wired mouse's" 2010-06-22

I got this as a present for my Dad. I love Apple's new magic mouse, but he really wanted the wired mouse. If you're going for a wired mouse, this is a good buy.
